Protein synthesis is the process by which cells build protein molecules using DNA, RNA, and enzymes. It is during protein synthesis that your body uses the amino acids found in protein to build new muscle. 

How important is this? 

VERY!

You see, growth hormone is a small protein that is made by the pituitary gland and then is secreted into the bloodstream. Growth hormone production is controlled by a set of hormones produced in the hypothalamus of the brain and in the intestinal tract.

What's critical about growth hormone is that it stimulates protein anabolism in many tissues. This effect reflects increased amino acid uptake, increased protein synthesis and decreased oxidation of proteins. 

The real issue here is, why you may be missing out on about 75% of your growth hormone intake which constitutes a big portion of building muscle.
